Yoga After Recovery Period

By Odyssa

Guess what. It's been over two months since I had my first surgery and stopped practicing yoga.

Physically, I've gotten weaker. I lost weight (4kg to be exact), muscles, and surely, the flexibility. I miss it! That's why I'm really happy my doctor said I can go back to practicing light yoga exercises

I don't feel the same as before. I'm quite careful with my movements these days, cautious about how my stomach feels if I lift something heavier than usual, get pulled or pushed, or need to bend. It might take awhile to get used to the feeling of stretching and making my muscles (especially arms) work for yoga practice.

I like  this article by Jessica Young about her experience with practicing yoga after an abdominal surgery, which I also had.

Your body after surgery is not the body you knew before. It may take days, even weeks, for your body and you to get reacquainted.

It's going to take a while. Wish me luck!
