There's a group of people I avoid. These people know if your work is a waste of time or if your piece has a real, relevant story behind the words.
They are called EDITORS.
So I've long delayed sending pitches to them.
What is a pitch? According to Indeed,
"A pitch is a brief description (usually no longer than 500 words or two paragraphs) of a story intended to convince an editor, producer or publisher to commission the piece. Writers in various industries use pitches to encourage an organization to publish their work."
Freedom With Writing, sends a weekly email of editors looking for new pitches and submissions. Writing jobs are also posted. Here's an article to find out what publishers look for.
It's intimidating and scary for any writer, but I've gathered enough writing work and confidence compared to what I had in 2019 when I started writing in Medium. I just hope to have enough tenacity to keep sowing.
Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. -Paul the Apostle
One magical day last week, I received a response from an editor and is now reviewing my work. Clue: It's a piece about books!
The photo above is of a cafe where I sometimes go to write and eat fries. 😀
Here's a list of my favorite books from last year and these are my current reads.
More updates on sowing and pitching next time.
